The Budja Budja Neighbourhood House is located in the heart of the Grampians National Park.
Our goal is to develop a strong, inclusive and connected community amongst the indigenous and non-indigenous people in Halls Gap and surrounding areas through programming and activities.

Due to covid and that the Hall is a lovely big community space, we will run Gentle Exercise in the Centenary Hall.

Please arrive around 1.20pm so we can start the class on time.  It also gives you an opportunity to speak with our experienced trainer Jo Brown about any restrictions or concerns you may have.

Friday Fun

We are planning to play a number of games on Fridays throughout 2022.  To begin the year we will have an afternoon of fun playing the ever popular Finska at the Budja Budja Neighbourhood House.   No previous experience necessary.  If the weather is too hot we have found a nice shady space behind the Halls Gap Community Garden.  Meet at the House around 1.20 and a decision on the playing area will be made depending on the weather conditions.

Winter months we will be playing indoor games.  Join in the fun, chat and have a cuppa at your neighbourhood house.

Writers Group

The Writers Group meet weekly.  It is a small dedicated group that is supportive and encouraging of each. There is absolutely no pressure to do any or all activities

In the first hour we share short pieces of writing that we’ve loved over the years, or that reflect what we have recently been reading. We also share a bit of what we might have written during the week, whether it was from exercises that were suggested at the end of each session, or from pieces that we have been writing independently of the group. Generally what happens at this point is we have a great discussion about what we’ve shared and how it related to us and our lives.

Then we have a little break, tea and coffee etc, but we don’t seem to stop talking!

In the second hour we try our hand at a bit of spontaneous writing, with a few warm up exercises to begin with, and then a few short pieces (5-10mins each) that we share with each other.  We have explored all sorts of different writing so far, including acrostic poems, limericks, collaborative writing and various writing prompts.
